Shrunken Wool - how to fix a shrunken wool cloth diaper cover

Shrunken Wool

Follow these steps to restore shrunken wool.

  1. Fill your sink with lukewarm water
  2. Add 7 to 10 ounces of hair conditioner
  3. Add your wool and gently stretch it back to the right size/shape
  4. Mix 2 tablespoons of vinegar with 1 gallon of water in a large bowl
  5. Add your wool to the vinegar solution and swish gently to remove the conditioner
  6. Hand wash your wool using your usual wool wash routine

@Daniela – you only need to do this method when your wool is noticeably shrunken. You can do it other times as well, it won’t hurt the diaper, but typically, most people only need to do it when someone has accidentally tossed the wool cover in the washing machine (for example). Hope that helps.

Do you recommend doing this procedure on a regular basis (every two or three months) or only when the shrinkage is very noticeable?
