Determine the Right Size Diaper for Baby
(i.e. Rise, Waist and Legs)
Like clothes, cloth diaper sizes vary by manufacturer so it’s also helpful to know your baby’s dimensions – specifically the rise, waist and legs – to ensure you pick the right size diaper and cover for baby. A loose fitting diaper or cover will cause leaks!
With a diaper on baby, measure from 1 inch below the belly button, down through the crotch area, and up the top of the bum, where the top of the diaper stops on the back of the waist.
With NO diaper on baby, measure 1 inch below the belly button. Wrap the tape measure around the belly (snug but not too tight) to make a complete circle.
With NO diaper on baby, measure as close to the groin area as possible, where the crease is, between the legs and the groin. DO NOT measure the fattest part of the thigh or the mid-thigh region.
