5 Reasons Not to Sleep on Cloth Diapering
Posted by MAJALIWA BASS
I’ll admit it. The first time I heard of cloth diapers, I wondered why anybody would want to use them. Now, as a mother to a three-month-old baby, I wonder why I ever doubted cloth diapers. I’ve learned a lot over the past few months, and I would love to share the reasons why I believe cloth diapers are amazing.
#1 Cloth Diapers Save a Lot of Money 💰
Everybody’s favorite thing about cloth diapers: saving money. How much money you save depends on the brand of disposable diapers you buy and how long you use cloth diapers, but you can expect to save anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Even better, you can save cloth diapers and use them for multiple children. The potential savings is what sold me on cloth diapers.
#2 Saving the Environment 🌱
Babies go through a lot of diapers. Imagine all of these diapers piling up in a landfill. To add to that, disposable diapers can take around 500 years to decompose. Since cloth diapers are reusable, you don’t have to worry about sending diapers off to the landfill to sit. Just throw them in the washer, and you’re good to go!
#3 Amazing Absorption and Blowout Prevention 💩
One of the many great things about cloth diapers is that you can customize their absorbency. If your baby is a heavy wetter, you can add an insert or booster or purchase a style of diaper meant to absorb more. One of my favorite perks about cloth diapers is their ability to prevent a blowout (aka. A poop disaster). Cloth diapers are known for blowout prevention. When my baby wears a disposable diaper, it’s almost guaranteed that she will have a blowout. I’ve never had a blowout with a cloth diaper. And to back things up, Pooters has a leak-free guarantee on their diapers - Challenge accepted!
#4 Protecting Baby’s Skin 👶🏽
A lot of disposable diapers are made with harmful or unclean ingredients. Personally, I try to avoid these types of ingredients as much as possible. Cloth diapers are usually made with safe ingredients, especially if you opt for natural fibers, like I do. Many parents are constantly battling diaper rash. With cloth diapers, you’ll see a lot less diaper rash.
#5 The Cuteness Factor ✨
I know it’s just a diaper, but they are so cute! How can you resist gushing over a baby with a little fluff butt? You can’t. There are so many beautiful colors and prints of cloth diapers. Warning: you might get addicted to collecting cloth diapers.
